Key to our understanding is that the most successful entrepreneurship and innovation will take advantage of the latest advances in technology. In this 21st Century, we are witnessing an era of new long-waves of economic and social transformation that are arising from new advances in digital and sustainable technology. The job of the entrepreneur is to develop new opportunities from these technologies so that they bring new benefits to customers and society. Our course uses both new and classical frameworks to develop the potential of new and inspired businesses that provide new value. Through new thinking and creative work, our course aims to capture and direct the power of the new long-waves that are transforming the economy.

Our course is structured around an easy-to-follow roadmap for entrepreneurship and innovation led by the latest ideas, examples and trends.

Module 1: Identification and selection of opportunities

Methodology

This program is developed in a 100% online format, which gives you the flexibility to make it compatible with your work activity

The learning module combines self-learning sessions and online live sessions

Live sessions are 180 minute online sessions with the instructor (3 hours)

A practical and participatory methodology is used, where you will learn key concepts and analyze practical cases and real situations

Before each live session, the instructor will provide you with self-study materials (videos, study guides and reflection questions) that you will have to prepare for the class. This preparation requires a dedication of approximately 60 minutes (1 hour)

After the session, you will have to carry out a self-evaluation in order to put your learning to the test

In addition, you will have an open Discussion Forum for each module. In the forum you will have the opportunity to discuss content and reflect with your classmates

This program requires a study dedication of 4 hour week for 4 weeks

Each week: 1 hour self study + 3 hours live sessions

Peter Kawalek

Peter is Director of the Centre for Information Management at Loughborough University. He was previously Head of Business Economics and Strategy Group at Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, He has also held academic posts at the Department of Computer Science, Manchester University, and Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick.

Peter has led or co-investigated research projects to a value of around £3 million, via sources including EPSRC, UK central government, and local councils. He is the author of numerous academic papers related to Information Systems, social media, organizational change and technological impact on strategy. Publications include California Management Review, the Journal of e-Adoption, Information and Management, the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the International Journal of Information Management, and the Journal of Information Technology.

Peter also has experience with many companies, frequently to very senior level. These include SAP, British Telecommunications, Chubb Insurance Company of Europe, Fujitsu, Hoverspeed, the Great North Eastern Railway, Manchester City FC., New York City FC., four23, Bonka Circus, Siemens Gas Turbines, and IBM.

Peter also has extensive public-sector experience. He worked on award-winning, successful change programmes at Salford City Council, as well as the follow-on initiatives at North Lincolnshire Council, Leeds City Council, Oldham Borough Council and the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities. He helped to establish the pioneering (Big Data) Lancashire-wide MADE (Multi-Agency Data Exchange) project with the constabulary, fire service, council, NHS, probation and drug action teams. This is still operational today after more than a decade. He also has key experience with Office an Taoiseach (Prime Minister) in Dublin, Department of Communications in Dublin, NHS in Manchester and Salford, the Department of Communities and Local Government, Cabinet Office and Greater Manchester Police. In the charities sector, he has worked with Royal Commonwealth Society on several projects, including as co-creator of the Jubilee Time Capsule; an official project of the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen.

He has also attended the Colloquium on Participant-centered Learning, Harvard Business School, Boston (USA), and a specialized research program at University of Texas (USA).

He is CEO of Unikemia, an Edtech startup based in Spain and Latam working on the development of innovative learning environments, upskilling solutions for companies, and digital content production.

He is also a professor of digital transformation, entrepreneurship & innovation, and operations. He is associate professor in Deusto Business School (Spain) and he is also visiting professor in Alliance Manchester Business School teaching in the Global MBA (UK, Dubai, Shanghai, Singapore). He was previously full-time professor at IE Business School (8 years).
